Design Challenge
To build a website that is inclusive, and the enables the member of latino community across all 50 states to sign up to take action in protecting their loved ones from false health information.
Context
CDC Foundation aims to make this website inclusive and multilingual so Latino community members can access trusted health information through a trusted source.
Final Design

Research
User Research
The website is designed for Latino/a communities across all 50 states. I started by gathering images that I believed would resonate with Latino/a individuals. In response to internal stakeholders' critiques of my moodboard, I began to create three versions of the MidFi wireframes. Internal stakeholders and subject matter experts provided feedback after completing this step.
General Pain-Points
Images
Users do not identify with images of individuals in tank tops/crop tops because this is a more conservative demographic

Portraits
Serious faces in images do not work for the Latino/a community because they are looking for influencers who feel excited to share information with their communities
Color
While our branding colors work with the population identity, the use of color is too vibrant and is distracting the user from the message

Diversity
There is not enough diversity represented on the site. The users will want to see representation from the LGBT community as well as male and female CIS straight individuals
User Persona
Louisa is an influencer who needs shareable assets because she loves her family and wants to keep safe during the pandemic and educate her fellow Latina moms.

Empathy Mapping

This was a good way to learn how a Latina/o mom would think and feel while approaching a recruitment site.
Visual Design
The visual design was developed by iterating from mood boards and style tiles to the UI kit and finally to creating a first vision of the system guide.

Key Points
CTAs
CTAs being the key part of this campaign, multiple CTAs are placed on the signup page. Designing full screen width CTA buttons for the mobile version of signups.

Order
Arranging things in order of the sign allowing user to have clear instructions before asking to get them signup for the campaign.
Inclusive
Typography meeting A11y compliance

Having the website Dual Languaged

Visual Context
Having visual context to campaign and its actions.
Recognition of influencers already signedup for the campaign to encourage more people to sign up for it.
Impact
These designs are being used by the CDC Foundation to spread accurate health information to the Latino/a communities in the USA.
Lesson
I learned an incredible amount about legibility versus aesthetics. Legibility and information access takes priority over high-aesthetics.
